Dolla

Settings overview

Understand what belongs in each settings tab so you know where to change account, billing, household, starter categories, data, guidance, and support options.

What settings is for

Settings collects account-wide controls that do not belong to a daily workspace like transactions or reports. Use it when you are changing how Dolla behaves rather than working through your day-to-day data.

Main tab groups

  • Account, Billing, Notifications, and Security for user-level preferences, plan state, and Stripe billing portal access.
  • Accounts, Categories, API Keys, Tags, and Merchants for supporting data and integrations. Smart Rules appears as an automation shortcut and opens the Rules section in Track.
  • Family for household membership, spending profiles, and Adviser Mode.
  • Data and Help for maintenance, onboarding, and support surfaces.

Data and help surfaces

The Data tab is the shortcut back into import and export tooling. For approved internal reviewers, it can also surface the public waitlist review panel with tool and status filters, reviewer notes, CSV export, and simple next/previous queue paging.

The Help tab stays focused on onboarding progress, tours, and links into the guidance hub and searchable Help Centre. Feature requests no longer stay in the private feedback flow: signed-in users can use the roadmap at /roadmap to submit ideas, vote on proposed work, and follow what is being implemented or already shipped. If you need the Attention Centre, use that standalone workspace instead of Settings. Use notification settings for delivery preferences; the Attention Centre is where the urgent notification and review backlog surfaces live.

Add skipped starter categories

Settings > Categories shows only starter categories that are not already in your household. Select any you want and add them without changing or removing the categories you already use. If a same-name custom category exists, Dolla asks before keeping both versions.

Some households created before the current starter catalogue first see Update your category setup. Dolla previews every recognised starter-category rename, move, or handling change before anything is saved. Confirming applies that preview together; cancelling makes no changes. Custom categories and anything Dolla cannot identify confidently remain untouched.

Rent/Mortgage stays unchanged because only you can decide whether it represents rent or a mortgage repayment. The legacy Reimbursable category and its transactions also stay unchanged. Use the review link to open those transactions in a filtered Transactions view, then assign their real purpose categories and reimbursement flags with the normal transaction controls.

For free-form creation, renaming, monthly limits, and category-tree organisation, follow the link from that tab to the full Budget > Categories workspace.

Billing and plan access

When three-tier plan selection is available for your account, setup asks you to choose Free, Standard, or Premium explicitly. Free continues without a card. A Standard or Premium trial requires a card, lasts 30 days when you are eligible, and then bills the selected plan unless you cancel first. This initial choice is separate from a returning user's valid Free fallback after paid access ends. Accounts still using the earlier billing policy continue to see their existing plan flow.

Use Settings > Billing to see your personal subscription, trial status, renewal or cancellation state, and Stripe portal link. The working prices are A$9.95/month or A$99.95/year for Standard, and A$19.95/month or A$199.95/year for Premium. Upgrade actions start a Stripe Checkout flow from Dolla. You can cancel or resume your own subscription from Billing; cancellation keeps access available until the recorded trial end or paid-through date.

Billing separates your personal subscription from effective household access. For example, it can show Your subscription: Free and Household access: Premium, provided by another member. If your household already gives you access to an equal or better tier, Billing hides checkout actions that would create a duplicate subscription. If you already have your own subscription as well, Billing keeps those subscription management actions available.

Billing notices use the event's recorded date. A payment failure leaves paid access available through the displayed grace or paid-through date; if it is not fixed by then, the household may move to Free. An uncancelled trial normally converts to the selected paid plan when payment succeeds; it does not always end in Free.

Many links inside the app and Help Centre open a specific settings tab. If you land in Settings with a tab= query parameter, that is expected.

API access lives at Settings > API Keys. Smart Rules is the exception: the Settings shortcut opens the canonical Rules section in Track.
