Manage family and household setup

Keep spending profiles, invites, household structure, and Adviser Mode aligned with how your money is really shared.

Household members versus spending profiles

Dolla distinguishes between real user access and the profiles used to attribute spending. That means you can represent adults, children, or shared roles without requiring every profile to have its own login.

A common first-run task

The default starter profile is meant to be replaced or renamed. If you are setting up a real household, this is usually the first Family settings change to make.

Invites and shared access

Use invites when another real person should sign in and collaborate inside the same household. If you only need a profile for budgeting and settlements, a spending profile may be enough.

Every active household login has equal financial-workspace authority. Legacy owner, admin, and member labels do not change access, and the billing contact is only used for billing communication. Any active login can rename the household, invite or remove another login, manage Adviser Mode, and change the billing contact. The last active login cannot leave or be removed.

When three-tier household limits are available for your account, an invite can create a represented member or link a login to an existing spending profile. Free supports 1 active or invited login and up to 2 represented members; Standard supports 2 logins and 2 represented members; Premium supports 6 of each. A login is an authenticated profile, while a represented member is a person in the household and may not have a login. A linked login counts toward both limits. Accounts still using the earlier household policy continue to see their existing access rules.

During the separate seven-day capacity grace period after a downgrade makes the household too large, excess memberships remain temporarily so the household can resolve the change. The destination tier's features apply immediately; retained paid-feature records remain available for read-only access and basic export, while paid editing and regeneration stay locked. The notice lists the affected people and logins and the exact removal date. At the deadline, Dolla keeps the earliest members under the destination limits, removes excess household memberships, preserves their historical financial records and attribution, and moves removed logins to their own Free households. New members and invites are blocked while the household is over its current limits.

Before leaving, use Settings > Data > Export to keep a personal copy of anything you need. Leaving or removal requires recent sign-in and typed confirmation. The departing login receives a new empty one-person workspace; the former household keeps its history and all affected members receive a notification.

Adviser Mode

Use Adviser Mode when your household wants to prepare a factual review workspace for a financial adviser. Any active household member can enable or disable it from Settings > Family.

The Adviser row remains visible in Analyse. When Adviser Mode is enabled, Standard households can view the sample workspace; Premium households can create household snapshots, preview the adviser view, share a verified link with one adviser email, allow or block PDF downloads, and resolve or dismiss adviser requests.

Disabling Adviser Mode prevents the row from opening its workspace or creating a new one; Dolla returns you to Reports instead. It does not revoke existing adviser shares, so revoke active access from the Adviser Review workspace when you need to stop an external link immediately.
