Manage accounts, tags, and merchant aliases

Keep supporting metadata tidy so imports, searches, and reports stay consistent over time.

Why these settings matter

These tabs shape the supporting metadata behind your reports and automations. They are not always changed often, but when they drift, search and categorisation quality usually drifts with them.

Tags

Tags are helpful for cross-cutting labels that do not fit neatly into the category tree.

Merchant aliases

Merchant aliases help keep noisy or inconsistent merchant text readable and easier to automate.

Use Settings > Merchants when several statement descriptions should all resolve to the same merchant. Enter one match-text description per line when creating aliases in bulk. Suggested aliases can be edited before you accept them, and the merchant-name field offers matching existing merchants as you type so new noisy descriptions can be attached to a merchant you already use.

Accounts settings

Use the accounts settings area for account-level management that is broader than a one-off balance update.

If you have linked bank data, Settings > Accounts also lets you disconnect the provider link without deleting your Dolla account. Existing imported accounts and transactions remain available in Dolla unless you edit or delete that data separately.
