Use cash flow, forecasts, and runway

Use Cash Flow in Analyse for historical movement and Plan for forward-looking forecast, runway, and scenario work.

Cash Flow

Use the Cashflow row in Analyse when you want filtered statements, spending trends, category distribution, period comparisons, and a clearer story than the dashboard overview. The dashboard keeps the daily snapshot; Cash Flow is the historical analysis workspace.

The Exclude One-offs option is useful when a single unusual transaction is distorting the picture. It is not a data cleanup tool; it is a reporting lens.

Switch between combined, joint, and member-level scopes when you need to isolate who or what is driving the result. Category and tag filters help narrow the view to a specific slice.

Forecast and runway context

Forecast and runway complement historical Cash Flow by looking forward. They help answer whether your live budgets, scheduled income and bills, and everyday spending patterns are creating balance pressure over time.

Planning Forecast works in month-based horizons. Switch between 12, 24, and 36 months depending on whether you want a short stress check or a longer planning window; the horizon you pick is shared with Scenarios and stays in the link. For example, 12-month scenarios can be reopened at the same view. Forecast model v2 separates available cash from credit cards and other liabilities, then shows a confidence range around the projected balance path.

The projected cash flow statement uses the same forward-looking baseline, but presents it as inflows, everyday outflows, and investment contributions by month or quarter. It follows active filters where the model can do that responsibly; when account or tag filters would make budget-only rows misleading, the projection explains the partial scope.

Planning

Use Planning when you want to test changes rather than just read the baseline. Forecast shows your baseline: available cash, net monthly position, the projected balance path, upcoming scheduled income and bills, and the first at-risk date. The 60-day runway starts from liquid account balances, applies scheduled recurring events on their due dates, and subtracts an estimated everyday-spending drift from budget and recent spending rows that are not already covered by recurring items. Scenarios is the sandbox: add plain-language changes (an income change, a new or changed bill, a spending target, or a one-off event) and see the baseline and scenario projections side by side without touching your real data. The projection chart switches between cash, net worth, and monthly cash flow, so you can see both where the balance lands and what a typical month's income, expenses, and net position look like under the scenario. Scenarios can be named and saved for later, and templates offer common starting points. For day-level timing, open the Analyse Calendar, which shows actual transactions and projected recurring items by day for the selected scope.

Forecast, runway, and planner scenarios require Premium advanced forecasting. Standard members can still use Reports, Cash Flow, and the Analyse Calendar, but the forward-looking planning cards show an upgrade prompt instead of placeholder balances.

Monthly Wrap

Open Monthly Wrap after a month closes. Choose the month, combined or member scope, and whether to include one-off transactions, then generate the narrative. Review its spending, budget, net worth, goal, and recurring highlights before using the email action.
