Dolla

Get ready for tax time with Dolla

Use member scopes, tax profiles, account allocations, and the EOFY review to check what Dolla has recorded before tax time.

When the EOFY review appears

From July through October, the Dashboard can show an EOFY review prompt for the financial year that just ended. If you dismiss the prompt, Dolla keeps it hidden for that financial year.

You can open the same workspace any time from the Tax row in Analyse. The Tax section has its own financial-year selector, so it does not depend on the date range used by Reports or Dashboard filters.

Choose whose tax records to review

The chips at the top of the Tax section select one stable scope:

  • All includes every accessible member plus records that are not assigned to a member.
  • A member chip uses that member's stable profile ID, so renaming a member does not change the saved selection. If two members have the same visible name, Dolla disambiguates them without guessing who a record belongs to.
  • Joint / unassigned shows records that Dolla cannot reliably attribute to one member.

Dolla remembers the selected scope on this device. If that member later becomes unavailable, the Tax section visibly falls back to All.

The summary, deductions, capital gains, EOFY checklist, tax CSV or PDF, and EOFY pack all use the selected scope. Switching scope does not divide a combined total equally or recalculate the household as one taxpayer.

Complete a member's tax profile

Select a member and choose Edit tax profile to record their default residency, study-loan details, and financial-year inputs. A financial-year residency override takes precedence over the profile default for that year.

Annual inputs include gross PAYG income, PAYG withholding, reportable fringe benefits, reportable super contributions, net investment loss, exempt foreign employment income, and a manual member deduction. These are manual records: review the selected financial year and the source documents before relying on them.

Not provided and zero are different. Leave a field blank when the amount is unknown or has not been entered. Enter 0 only when you know the amount is nil. Dolla does not replace an unknown amount with $0.

Repair account tax ownership

Open Settings > Accounts, then Tax ownership, to allocate an account to one member or to two to six accessible members. Percentages must total exactly 100.00% before they can be saved.

Dolla never assumes an equal split. If an account has no allocation, an incomplete allocation, or refers to a member who is no longer accessible, it remains Joint / unassigned and the Tax workspace shows a repair warning. Clearing an allocation also returns the account to that unresolved state; it does not redistribute ownership.

What the checklist reviews

The EOFY review uses your recorded Dolla data:

  • Income totals by taxpayer or spender, with salary, bonus, and tax refund buckets treated as PAYG-withheld deposits for the taxable estimate.
  • Transactions you have marked as deductible.
  • Deterministic deduction-sweep suggestions based on your own previous tagging patterns.
  • Realized capital gains already recorded in investments.
  • The EOFY accountant ZIP export.

Suggestions in the deduction sweep are not automatically applied. You choose whether to accept or dismiss each item, and accepted items update the existing deductible transaction flag.

Accountant pack

The EOFY pack download is a ZIP from the Tax section. It can include deductible transaction CSVs, the capital gains schedule, ABOUT.txt, and any available tax summary PDF. The pack and individual tax CSV or PDF exports use the member scope currently selected in the Tax section and identify that applied scope in their contents.

The files describe what is recorded in Dolla. They do not decide whether an amount is eligible for a deduction or change what you should lodge.

Monthly Wrap

The July Monthly Wrap can include one extra line when the financial year that just closed has transactions already marked deductible. The line uses the total you recorded in Dolla for that financial year.
