Use account goals, category goals, and achievements
Choose the goal type that matches the behaviour you want to track and understand what completion means in each case.
Account goals
Use account goals when you want personal progress tied to a real account balance. This works well for savings targets and liability payoff targets.
Category goals
Use category goals when your personal target is a spending behaviour rather than a balance. These pair naturally with budgets because the category structure already exists.
Achievements
Achievements are best treated as personal encouragement and visibility. They can motivate progress, but they should not replace the clearer signal from an account or category goal.
Household-level goals
Household-level goal sharing is planned separately. Until that work lands, goals and achievements should be read as individual progress signals rather than shared household commitments.
